I had a mysterious thumping noise in my car whenever I hit a speed bump, and the folks at Contra Costa Auto Service worked diligently to figure out the issue. They originally thought it was the strut mounts, but when I came back to them saying I was still hearing the noise, they worked hard to figure out the problem. Also, they did this free of charge! It's pretty rare to find a mechanic that won't charge for a return visit. Really appreciate the effort they put into solving the problem, and now my car doesn't make any noises on bumps!

I am so happy I found Contra Costa Auto Service for my 1997 Saab, affectionately known as SAABrina. I discovered the shop through SAABShops.com. However, when I first visited the Contra Costa Auto Service website, I didnt see Saab listed among the vehicles they service. Still, my gut told me to call and double check. Im so glad I did. Justin ( manager) confirmed that they do, in fact, work on Saabs, and I scheduled an appointment. After my previous Saab mechanic retired around 2020, I struggled to find a shop that truly appreciated these unique cars. My check engine light was constantly on, and despite visiting four different mechanics, no one could identify the root cause. While I barely passed smog each time, I knew this time would be a challenge. The team at Contra Costa Auto Service was incredibly thorough and responsive. Dan is a tenacious and meticulous mechanic who was finally able to pinpoint the issue a cracked hose that had been improperly installed by a prior mechanic. For the first time in years, my check engine light is off and SAABrina passed smog!!! She is now running better than she has in the twenty years I have owned her. This restoration project holds deep personal meaning for me. SAABrina was the first car I purchased after grad school. Recently, after losing my veteran brother to suicide, she took on even greater significance. My brother had been helping me restore her. Continuing this project has become my way of honoring his memory, recognizing his service, and raising awareness for veteran suicide. Justin, who manages the shop, and the entire Contra Costa Auto Service team have been incredibly supportive throughout the process. They truly care about their customers, which is rare these days. Their 24000 mile 24 month warranty gives me peace of mind as I work toward my goal of getting SAABrina to her 30th birthday. Even now, heads still turn when I drive her, and that always makes me smile. I like to think my brother is smiling too.
